<a href="https://www.goldbergkohn.com/people/vanessa-a-bachtell/"><strong>Vanessa Bachtell</strong></a>, a principal in the firm's Corporate Group, coached the team of Doug Lavey and Tyler Day from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law to the National Championship of the LawMeets® 2020 M&amp;A Boot Camp&nbsp;on August 8, 2020, where Doug and Tyler were named National Champions (buy-side).

During the Boot Camp, teams of law students were asked to take the role of counsel to one side of a hypothetical transaction, drafting, marking up and negotiating the acquisition agreement. Each team worked with an experienced practitioner or educator who volunteered coaching hours, as teams held conference calls with their "client," exchanged draft agreements and planned for and participated in bi-weekly negotiation sessions. The Boot Camp started with 124 teams from law schools throughout the country, of which the 10 top-performing teams made it to the National finals. In the finals, each team completed one last exercise focused on the negotiation of a specific indemnity, and four teams advanced to the championship round.&nbsp;

Congratulations to Doug and Tyler and to Vanessa, who is a Northwestern Law alum and has coached LawMeets teams for Northwestern Law for the last several years along with<strong> <a href="https://www.goldbergkohn.com/people/gerald-l-jenkins/">Jerry Jenkins</a></strong>.
